Hotel for Dogs is a simulator developed by FarSight Studios and released in 2009 for Wii, PC, and Nintendo DS, based around caring for a large number of stray dogs while keeping them out of the hands of a dogcatcher. Players are responsible for feeding, grooming, and entertaining dozens of dogs across ten levels of increasingly demanding gameplay. A central mechanic involves searching for parts and tools to construct more than a dozen gadgets, which assist with both the day-to-day care of the animals and protecting them from capture. The game draws its premise from the challenge of managing multiple needy pets simultaneously, requiring players to balance various maintenance tasks to keep the dogs healthy and hidden. It is aimed primarily at younger audiences who enjoy animal care and light management gameplay.
