Based on White Wolf's World of Darkness tabletop universe, Hunter: The Reckoning is a hack-and-slash action game developed by High Voltage Software and released in 2002 for Xbox and Nintendo GameCube. Players choose from four distinct hunter characters — Deuce, a biker ex-convict; Father Cortez, a prison chaplain; Kassandra, a raver; and Samantha, a former police officer — each brought into conflict with waves of supernatural enemies. Combat draws on an arsenal of weapons spanning melee tools like axes to ranged firearms such as shotguns. The game supports multiplayer, allowing multiple hunters to tackle the supernatural onslaught together. Blending elements of beat 'em up action with light role-playing foundations, the title adapts the themes and setting of the Hunter: The Reckoning tabletop game into a fast-paced console experience centered on relentless enemy encounters.
