International Karate +, developed by System 3 Software and released in 1987, is a fighting game available across a wide range of platforms including the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and several others. Building on its predecessor, the game introduces a third simultaneous fighter to the combat, expanding the action beyond a standard one-on-one format. Designer Archer Maclean added new moves to the roster, among them a double head-kick and a backflip, alongside an animated background and a remixed soundtrack composed by Rob Hubbard. The game also incorporates a distinctive balls mechanic, adding an unconventional element to the gameplay. Across its numerous platform releases, International Karate + built a strong reputation as one of the more technically accomplished karate-themed fighting games of its era.
