Invasion From Beyond is a futuristic shooter developed by King of the Jungle, released in 1998 for PlayStation and web browser. Players pilot a spacecraft through more than 30 missions — including hidden secret levels — with the core objective of eliminating an invading alien force. Earthlink Command issues specific mission directives through an in-game communications icon, varying the goals beyond simple combat. The player's ship is equipped with a radar system, weapon mounts, an aiming reticule, a cargo hold, and the Suck-O-Matic, an experimental device capable of teleporting items into and out of the hold. The Suck-O-Matic is central to completing many of the game's objectives rather than purely optional. A range of ships and weapons can be discovered across missions, adding variety to the spacecraft and loadout options available throughout the campaign.
The story for Invasion From Beyond is based on the golden age of B-Movie science fiction thrillers, and goes like this: farm workers have been abducted and crop circles were discovered in farmlands outside Washington, D.C.. The locals' insults towards superstitious fears ("Slap an Alien") were a welcome party for the Martians ready to strike. You are a fully qualified Earthlink and must pilot your ship to stop the alien invasion by manipulating the ground-based firepower of Earthlink Command and prevent the aliens from taking over our beloved planet Earth.
