A side-scrolling endless runner developed by Halfbrick Studios and released in 2011, Jetpack Joyride follows Barry Steakfries — a character shared with Halfbrick's Monster Dash — as he breaks into a top-secret laboratory and makes off with an experimental jetpack. Players guide Barry through a continuously scrolling environment, navigating obstacles while maintaining momentum across an ever-extending run. Originally launched on iOS, the game was subsequently brought to a wide range of platforms including Android, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Portable, Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, and web browsers. Designed by Luke Muscat in his role as Chief Creative Officer at Halfbrick Studios, the game blends arcade accessibility with the compulsive structure of the endless runner genre, rewarding repeated attempts at extending distance and improving performance. It received broadly positive critical reception and accumulated multiple industry awards following its debut.
Join Barry Steakfries as he breaks in to a secret laboratory to commandeer the experimental jetpacks from the clutches of science evildoers.
