Knight Lore is a platform-puzzle game developed by Ashby Computers and Graphics Ltd., released in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Microcomputer System, Amstrad CPC, and MSX. Though the third entry in the Sabreman series chronologically, it was the first completed, having been held back to avoid undermining sales of Sabre Wulf. The game casts the player as Sabreman, afflicted by a werewolf curse, with forty days to gather the necessary objects scattered across a castle and brew an antidote. An onscreen timer tracks the cycle of day and night; Sabreman transforms into a werewolf after dark and reverts to human form at dawn. Each room is presented in monochrome as a self-contained screen, filled with climbable blocks and hazards. Progress depends on navigating these obstacles, solving environmental puzzles, and collecting the ingredients required for the cure.
