Kya: Dark Lineage is a PlayStation 2 action-adventure platformer developed by Eden Games and released in 2003. The game follows Kya, a young woman transported to an alien dimension of floating islands after being separated from her brother Frank. Frank is captured by the Wolfens, monstrous servants of a warlord named Brazul — who turns out to be Kya's estranged father — and Kya discovers the Wolfens are actually peaceful native inhabitants transformed against their will. Gameplay involves traversing interconnected environments filled with platforms, tunnels, and powerful wind currents that Kya can ride to cross gaps or control her descent. Combat relies on hand-to-hand fighting, boomerang-like weapons called boomies, and magical bracelets. Defeating Wolfens allows Kya to cast a spell reverting them to their original Nativ form; returned Nativs populate a hub city, opening shops and challenges that provide access to new items and upgrades. Light puzzle-solving runs throughout the experience alongside the platforming and combat.
