LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is a 2012 platformer developed by Double Eleven for the PlayStation Vita, featuring the series' iconic fabric protagonist Sackboy in an original adventure built specifically for the handheld. Players navigate through creative, crafted environments in a journey centered on exploration and competition. As with other entries in the franchise, the game combines tactile visual aesthetics with platforming gameplay, and the Vita version takes advantage of the hardware's portable nature to deliver the LittleBigPlanet experience on the go. The title carries forward the series' characteristic blend of whimsical design and engaging level progression while introducing content exclusive to this installment rather than simply porting an existing entry, making it a dedicated handheld chapter in the broader LittleBigPlanet series.
As in previous titles in the LittleBigPlanet series, players control a character named Sackboy through a variety of worlds utilising the character's various abilities such as jumping and grabbing objects. It also features various non-platforming mini-games. Numerous multiplayer options are available. As well as up to four-player online competitive or co-op gameplay, the PlayStation Vita's multi-touch display can be used by two players for competitive games. "Pass'n'Play" is also available, enabling turn-based gameplay. The Vita's rear touchpanel is also used for pushing objects toward the player, creating platforms out of parts of the world.
