Loaded is a top-down shooter developed by Gremlin Interactive and released in 1995 for PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Players select from one of six grotesque, deformed characters — ranging from a psychotic clown to an oversized baby — and work through a series of mission-based levels, each built around specific objectives such as escaping a prison. The gameplay centers on moving through environments packed with enemies, dispatching large numbers of opponents in a deliberately violent and bloody style. The game supports both a single-player campaign and a two-player head-to-head mode, giving it additional replayability beyond the primary story progression. Its unusual character roster and unrelenting carnage defined its identity within the mid-1990s top-down shooter genre.
The six playable characters are all psychotic criminals who have been setup by F.U.B., a former catering officer with the Sector Marines. They are now serving sentence on an inhospitable prison planet, the planet Raulf. The player have to escape Raulf, chase F.U.B. and engage on a bloody odyssey across the strange worlds of the galaxy to exact revenge on F.U.B.
