Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness is a 3D action RPG developed by Chime, released in 2022 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Based on the manga and anime series, the game offers two distinct story modes. The first follows the events of season one, tracing Riko and Reg's journey from their initial meeting through their descent to the Abyss's second layer, the Seeker Camp, where players encounter primeval creatures and the debilitating Curse of the Abyss. The second mode features an original story, supervised by series creator Akihito Tsukushi, centered on an unnamed Cave Raider venturing into the Abyss independently of the main characters. Event scenes are fully voiced by the original anime cast. Both narratives are set within the Abyss, a vast, dangerous chasm that draws explorers toward its mysterious depths.
The world’s sole remaining, unconquered chasm, the Abyss, is the stage where many adventures are born...and disappear. Those who appear in these stories are mesmerized by the power of the Abyss and aim for the bottom of the netherworld. The story about to be told is that of a nameless Cave Raider that begins their adventure many days after Riko and Reg depart for the Abyss.
