Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom in collaboration with Eighting, released in February 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The fifth entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, it marks the franchise's first use of three-dimensional character models, replacing the sprite-based visuals of its predecessors. Gameplay centers on selecting a team of three characters drawn from Capcom's video game franchises and Marvel Comics, then competing to eliminate the opposing team. The tag-team mechanics established in earlier installments carry over, supplemented by a simplified three-button attack system — carried forward from Tatsunoko vs. Capcom — intended to lower the barrier for newcomers. The game was produced by Ryota Niitsuma. Critics generally praised the roster and core gameplay while noting weaknesses in online functionality and overall feature depth. An updated standalone release, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, followed in November 2011 with additional characters, stages, and gameplay adjustments.
