Medal of Honor: Allied Assault – Spearhead is a 2002 first-person shooter expansion developed by EA Los Angeles for PC and Mac. Set across the final year of the European theater, from June 1944 to May 1945, it follows three distinct campaigns rooted in pivotal historical engagements. Players parachute behind enemy lines as part of Operation Overlord, fight to hold ground against the German counteroffensive during the Battle of the Bulge, and advance into Berlin as Wehrmacht forces mount a last desperate defense of their capital. The expansion builds on the base Allied Assault experience by placing a strong emphasis on the scale and personal cost of these late-war operations, conveying the determination required of soldiers who faced some of the conflict's most brutal and consequential fighting during the drive toward Germany's final defeat.
The first expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault re-enacts three major European Theater battles through the eyes of Sgt. Jack Barnes (voiced by Gary Oldman), a paratrooper of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Barnes lands behind the Atlantic Wall on D-Day in Normandy, holds the line near Bastogne in the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge and infiltrates Berlin before the Red Army begins their attack.
