Medal of Honor: European Assault is a third-person shooter developed by EA Los Angeles and released in 2005 for Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PlayStation 2. Players control Lt. William Holt, an OSS operative fighting across four theaters of World War II — France, North Africa, the Soviet Union, and Belgium — each containing multiple missions loosely grounded in historical events. Missions are structured around a consistent set of tasks: completing primary and secondary objectives, eliminating a designated German officer, recovering documents from that officer, and escaping the area. Finishing all five earns a gold medallion, with silver or bronze awarded for partial completion. Exploration within levels can surface additional objectives beyond those initially briefed. Holt frequently fights alongside allied NPCs toward shared goals, while his OSS role adds covert tasks such as tracking down officers connected to the antagonist Graf Von Schrader.
