Melatonin is a rhythm game developed by Half Asleep, released in 2022 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The game explores the blurred boundary between dreams and waking life, using its levels to gradually reveal details about the central character's experiences. Rather than relying on traditional note highways or timing overlays, players follow visual animations and audio cues to stay on beat, keeping the interface minimal and unobtrusive. All artwork is hand-drawn in a colorful, detailed style, and each of the game's 20-plus levels introduces a new piece of music composed to complement both the visuals and the gameplay. The levels are organized across five chapters.
