Mercury Meltdown is a physics-based puzzle-platform game developed by Ignition Banbury and released in 2006 for the PlayStation Portable, with a later release on PlayStation Vita. Players guide a liquid mercury blob through a series of obstacle-filled stages, navigating hazards to reach each level's goal. A central addition in this entry is a state system that shifts the blob between four distinct modes — Normal, Solid, Fast, and Slow — enabling more elaborate and demanding stage designs. The game features over 160 levels, more than doubling the count of its predecessor, with additional stages made available through downloadable content. A wireless multiplayer component supports two players across five distinct sub-games, each playable against a friend or AI opponent. The combination of expanded level count, varied blob states, and competitive modes broadens the challenge considerably compared to earlier entries in the series.
