Metal Saga is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game developed by Crea-Tech and released for PlayStation 2 in 2005. A follow-up to the Metal Max series, it is set in a ruined world inhabited by bounty hunters, bandits, rangers, and mutant monsters. The player controls a bounty hunter traveling westward alongside a soldier, a mechanic, and a cyborg dog, pursuing wanted targets across a dangerous landscape. Unlike many Japanese RPGs, the game features a non-linear structure in which the missions a player chooses shape the story and lead to multiple possible endings. Combat is turn-based with traditional party management, but the standout mechanic is tank warfare inherited from Metal Max. Players can acquire tanks, outfit them with weapons, cannons, and accessories across hundreds of configurations, and repair or rebuild them using parts found throughout the world. Tanks also support custom paint jobs that can be saved to the memory card.
