MLB 09: The Show is a baseball simulation developed by SCE San Diego Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2009 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable. The fourth entry in the MLB: The Show series, it allows players to take control of Major League Baseball teams and select Minor League Baseball squads across a variety of gameplay modes. Depending on the chosen mode, control can extend to individual players or an entire roster. The game supports single-game competitions, full season play, and franchise management spanning multiple years. A career mode is also available, in which a custom-created player is built from scratch and guided through their professional baseball journey. The combination of individual and team-focused perspectives, along with short and long-term play structures, makes it a comprehensive baseball simulation experience on PlayStation platforms.
