Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars is a 2008 platform-adventure game developed by Red Fly Studio, released for Wii and Nintendo DS. Set in a world where a passing comet's strange green dust has awakened fungi, cacti, flowers, and vines to full sentience, the game unfolds in backyards, homes, and gardens during the quiet hours humans aren't paying attention. Players control a Bolete mushroom standing roughly three inches tall, navigating this miniaturized world where ordinary household objects loom large. Central to the gameplay is crafting weapons and tools from discarded trinkets and everyday debris, turning trash into armaments for use against rival plant and fungi factions. On Wii, the Remote drives combat, while the DS version incorporates stylus-based controls. The premise draws on the idea that nation-building among newly conscious plant species inevitably led to conflict, placing players in the middle of a war waged entirely beneath human notice.
