NBA 08 is a basketball simulation developed by SCE San Diego Studio, released in 2007 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. The game centers on the third and final installment of "The Life" narrative mode, which follows the closing chapter of a coach's career under a figure known as Coach T. Players select from five positional characters or build a custom one, then navigate 60 scenarios that shape their reputation — either as a cooperative teammate or a disruptive presence — through decisions made at press conferences, endorsement signings, and interactions with coaches, teammates, and rivals. Strong in-game performance earns attribute points for player progression. A Smart Shot Indicator uses color coding to signal defensive pressure and shot likelihood before each attempt. The presentation mimics a television broadcast with commentary from Kevin Calabro and Mark Jackson. Additional content includes minigames such as a 3-Point Shootout and the PlayStation Skill Challenge, plus online head-to-head and tournament play.
