NBA Jam is an arcade-style basketball game developed by Acclaim Studios Austin and released in 2003 for Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PlayStation 2. Matches are played three-on-three and draw from a roster of more than 50 all-time great NBA players. A central Legends Tournament mode structures gameplay as a progression through different eras of basketball history, with players competing head-to-head against the standouts of each period. Defeating a team unlocks its players for use in assembling a custom roster. On the court, filling the Jam Meter enables access to over 40 distinct Monster Dunks. The game also includes a substantial collection of unlockable teams, courts, and cheat codes, and features commentary from Tim Kitzrow and Bootsy Collins.
