Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse is a 2D action platformer from Frontside 180, blending Metroidvania exploration with roguelite structure across procedurally generated dungeons set in locations such as ruins and botanical gardens. Central to the gameplay is a possession mechanic in which a cursed hat can take over enemies, granting access to their unique abilities and opening new combat and traversal options. Players also wield magic, read enemy attack patterns, and exploit environmental features to survive increasingly difficult encounters, including demanding boss fights. Artifacts unlock movement abilities like double-jumping, gradually expanding the areas accessible during each run. Between expeditions, materials gathered in dungeons can be used to rebuild a ruined village, construct facilities, grow crops, and cook food, while skill trees provide further character development. Traditional Japanese hand-drawn animation defines the visual style. The game releases in 2026 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.
