Released in 2009 by Pipeworks Software for Wii, PC, and Xbox 360, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is an adventure game based on the film of the same name. Players take on the role of Larry Daley, a former museum guard who races to the Smithsonian Institution after learning that exhibits from New York's Natural History Museum have been transferred to its archives. The threat escalates when Egyptian ruler Kahmunrah, aided by historical villains Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon, and Al Capone, attempts to seize control of the museum and beyond. Larry must navigate the Smithsonian's corridors before dawn to stop the plot, aided by allies including aviator Amelia Earhart, Teddy Roosevelt, and returning characters Jedediah and Octavius. The game follows the film's premise of exhibits coming to life within the world's largest museum complex.
