Dragon of the North is the first expansion for Nioh, Team NINJA's action role-playing game blending hack-and-slash combat with deep RPG systems. Released in May 2017 for PlayStation 4 (and later PlayStation 5 and PC), it extends the base game's story into the Oshu region, where the influential warlord Date Masamune takes center stage. The expansion adds new main missions, sub-missions, and Twilight missions, broadening both the narrative scope and the overall difficulty curve. Players face a fresh roster of enemies, including new yokai types and challenging boss encounters. Alongside the new combat scenarios, Dragon of the North introduces additional weapons, armor sets, and guardian spirits, giving players further tools for customizing their character builds and refining their approach to the game's demanding, stance-based swordplay.
