Pac-Man World 2 is a 3D platformer and adventure game developed by Namco Hometek and released in 2002 for PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, and PC. The story draws on Pac-Land legend: centuries ago, a wizard transformed five ordinary fruits into the "Golden Fruit," which a knight used to imprison an evil spirit named Spooky beneath a great tree. In the present, the ghosts Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde steal the Golden Fruit from that tree, inadvertently freeing Spooky, who recruits them in a scheme to eliminate the Pac-people. Pac-Man, alerted by Professor Pac, sets out across varied environments to recover the stolen fruit and confront both the ghosts and Spooky. Gameplay involves traversal, combat, and exploration across multiple worlds, continuing the format established by the first Pac-Man World while expanding the narrative backdrop into a medieval-inspired mythology.
