Pirates: The Key of Dreams is a Wii shooter released in 2008 in which the player takes the role of a navy captain sent undercover into the Caribbean to recover a mysterious artifact called the Key of Dreams from the pirate Blackbeard. The primary story mode spans ten levels, presenting naval combat from an overhead perspective as the player directly controls a sailing ship. Gameplay involves managing a crew of recruitable specialists — including navigators and master gunners — whose skills enhance the vessel's capabilities, alongside an arsenal of cannons, mines, and rockets. Beyond the main campaign, the game offers a single-player skirmish mode set across 35 arenas, where the player faces computer-controlled opponents, and an offline multiplayer battle mode accommodating up to four players. The skirmish and multiplayer modes also grant access to bonus ships unavailable in the story campaign.
