Pocket Mortys is a Pokémon-inspired role-playing game developed by Big Pixel Studios and released in 2016 for Android and iOS, set within the universe of the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty. Players take on the role of Rick, collecting and training an assortment of alternate-dimension Mortys — over 70 in total, including variants such as Mustache Morty, Wizard Morty, and Cronenberg Morty — before pitting them against the Mortys of rival Ricks. Gameplay revolves around building a roster of Mortys, leveling them up through combat, and combining them to create stronger versions. The structure follows the monster-collecting RPG format closely, with battles against other trainers serving as the primary competitive challenge. The game draws its humor and setting directly from the source series, framing the creature-collecting premise as a multiverse-spanning craze among the many versions of Rick.
Rick has his portal gun removed by the Rick council and must 'train' a team of Mortys in order to prove his skill and earn it back. Rick doesn't seem too displeased by the situation and as usual Morty doesn't really have much input in the decision. Wild and displaced Mortys from many (unlimited) dimensions are available to capture, 'train' and evolve through wild encounters, hatching eggs and gumball machines.
