Power Stone is a fully three-dimensional arena fighting game developed by Capcom, originally released in arcades on Sega NAOMI hardware in 1999 before being ported to the Dreamcast. Players battle across interactive 3D environments, picking up objects and weapons scattered throughout the arena to gain an advantage over opponents. A central mechanic involves collecting Power Stones during a match; gathering a set number triggers a transformation that temporarily grants the fighter enhanced abilities and attacks. The game's open arenas distinguish it from traditional 2D fighting games by allowing free movement in all directions rather than restricting combat to a single plane. Power Stone proved popular enough to extend beyond gaming into other media, spawning both a manga adaptation and a 26-episode anime series in Japan.
Set in the 19th century, strong believers of legends, myths and superstition search for fame, fortune and glory. One legend above all is sought after by many, a treasure which can make any dream come true. Believers from all over the world set out to search for this treasure, and are forced to fight against one another in pursuit of the legendary Power Stone.
