Project Spark is a sandbox creation platform developed by Team Dakota, released in 2014 for PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The game centered on building and playing custom worlds, stories, and games through an accessible yet deep set of tools. Players could sculpt and paint terrain using intuitive world-building tools, then bring their creations to life through a visual programming language designed to be approachable without sacrificing depth. The platform supported a community ecosystem where creators could publish their work and explore content made by others, effectively blending game creation with social sharing. Spanning platform, strategy, and adventure genres, Project Spark also allowed players to examine how existing creations were constructed, functioning as both a learning tool and a creative environment. As of August 12, 2016, the servers were shut down and the game is no longer available for download.
