Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a third-person action shooter developed by Midway Games and released in 2004 for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. Players control Nick Scryer, a secret agent whose face was reconstructed and memory erased so he could infiltrate a rogue psychic organization known as The Movement. Captured before completing his mission, Scryer escapes and gradually recovers his psi abilities as he works to dismantle the group from within. Combat blends conventional firearms with a range of psychic powers. Telekinesis allows Scryer to hurl objects and enemies through the environment, while Pyrokinesis sets targets ablaze. Mind Drain siphons psi energy directly from opponents, and Remote Viewing lets Scryer project his consciousness out of his body to scout areas ahead. The combination of gunplay and these interconnected mental abilities forms the core of the game's approach to combat and level progression.
