A 2D platformer developed by SCE Japan Studio for PlayStation 3, Puppeteer follows Kutaro, a boy transformed into a puppet after being abducted by the Moon Bear King. When the tyrannical ruler devours Kutaro's wooden head and discards his body, the headless protagonist must recover his head and find his way home. Central to the gameplay is a magical pair of scissors that Kutaro uses to cut through enemies and traverse environments. A head-swapping mechanic allows players to equip different heads, which can influence the world around them — losing a head costs a life. The game is framed as a theatrical puppet show, with narration, lighting, audience reactions, and music reinforcing the storybook presentation. Environments are drawn from a dark fairy-tale aesthetic and shift dynamically throughout the adventure, set within an elaborate, constantly transforming puppet theatre.
