Quantum Replica is a cyberpunk stealth-action game developed by On3D, released in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Set in a dystopian 2084 metropolis ruled by a corporate alliance called the Syndicate, players take on the role of Alpha, an amnesiac fugitive with no registered identity who is immediately flagged as a high-priority target by the city's security forces. The core gameplay blends espionage-oriented stealth with time-manipulation mechanics, allowing Alpha to freeze or bend time to slip past guards, evade an omnipresent AI surveillance system, and neutralize enemies. Progression follows a Metroidvania structure across five distinct districts — ranging from street-level zones patrolled by state police to heavily secured installations — with an expanding arsenal of gadgets and abilities unlocked along the way. Boss encounters close out each district, demanding adaptable strategies from the player.
The cities of the world have grown into enormous metropolitan areas. To keep control of the ever-expanding population and the running of the biggest of these huge new city-jungles, the government has sealed it off completely. Each living soul in the city is a registered citizen, whose every step is watched over and directed by an Artificial Intelligence hive in charge of the city’s functioning.
