Raiden IV is a vertical-scrolling shoot-em-up developed by MOSS Co., Ltd., released in arcades in 2007 and later brought to Xbox 360. A continuation of the long-running Raiden series, the game transitions from the franchise's traditional 2D presentation to fully 3D environments while maintaining the fast-paced action the series is known for. Players pilot a fighter through waves of enemy aircraft and challenging boss encounters, selecting from an arsenal that includes returning weapons such as the Spread Shot and Vulcan Laser alongside newly introduced armaments. The Xbox 360 version expands on the arcade release with several distinct modes: Arcade Mode with adjustable difficulty, an Additional Mode featuring two extra stages, Score Attack, and the new Overkill Mode, which introduces original mission stages and a redesigned scoring system. Online world rankings track performance across multiple modes, and a secret mode unlocks upon completing the game.
