Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is a 2010 shooter-adventure expansion from Rockstar North, released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and later made available as a standalone title. Set within the same frontier world as Red Dead Redemption, it adds a separate single-player campaign in which protagonist John Marston navigates a zombie outbreak that has spread across the Old West. The central objective is tracking down a cure for the infectious plague, which drives Marston across the game's open landscape as the undead overrun towns and settlements. The expansion grafts survival horror themes onto the original game's Western setting, transforming familiar environments and characters into a version of the frontier overrun by the undead. It functions as a self-contained story distinct from the main game's narrative while retaining the core mechanics and world of Red Dead Redemption.
Across the vast Western frontier, a plague is spreading... When former outlaw John Marston wakes up at his farmhouse, he finds a world gone insane: overnight, deranged hordes have overrun the towns and outposts of the American frontier. In a desperate attempt to save his family, Marston must traverse a world torn apart by chaos and disorder, using every skill he has to survive long enough to find a cure.
