Developed by Nerial and released in 2020 for PC, Mac, iOS, and Nintendo Switch, Reigns: Beyond is a card-swiping RPG and strategy game that casts the player as the frontperson of an intergalactic indie rock band. The core loop involves touring the galaxy, performing at venues across various planets, and recruiting alien musicians to expand the band's lineup. Between gigs, players must balance their spacecraft's resources and manage crew relationships, as poor decisions can result in being stranded in space. Combat with pirates and tax collectors plays out through swiping dogfights, while over 1,400 decision cards and a cast of more than 60 characters — including manager Lord Shark, the scholarly mollusc Strombo, and a sardonic ship AI — drive the branching narrative. An original soundtrack was composed by Sam Webster.
