Resistance 3 is a first-person shooter developed by Insomniac Games, released in 2011 exclusively for PlayStation 3. The third and final entry in the Resistance series, it follows Capelli navigating a brutal, hostile world in a fight for survival. The game reintroduces the weapon wheel from earlier entries in the series alongside a new arsenal of upgradeable weapons, giving combat a distinctive tactical dimension. Beyond the single-player campaign, the game supports two-player cooperative play through either online or local split-screen modes. A progression-based multiplayer component rounds out the package. Resistance 3 balances a grounded, grim tone with the fast-paced action the series is known for, making it both a continuation of the established fiction and a refinement of the franchise's core shooter mechanics.
August, 1957. America is lost. Four years after the end of the critically-acclaimed Resistance 2, dishonorably discharged Sentinel Joseph Capelli has given up fighting the Chimeran menace. Now he’s in hiding with other survivors, including his wife and young son. But when Dr. Fyodor Malikov arrives with the opportunity to deliver a blow to the occupying Chimeran force, Capelli must leave his family and journey the harrowing road from Oklahoma to New York City. Along the way, he’ll encounter the remnants of humanity left in the aftermath of the brutal Chimeran invasion.
