Blood Ties is a downloadable content pack for Rise of the Tomb Raider, developed by Crystal Dynamics and released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation VR, SteamVR, and Oculus Rift. The pack centers on two distinct experiences set within Croft Manor. In the story mode, Lara's uncle contests her claim to the estate following her father's death, prompting her to explore her childhood home and unravel a buried family secret. The second mode, Lara's Nightmare, shifts to a survival format in which waves of undead enemies overtake the manor and must be repelled before they overwhelm its defenses. Community challenges with card modifiers allow players to compete against friends' scores in that mode. Additional inclusions are five classic Lara Croft skins, an outfit and weapon referencing Tomb Raider III, and a new Extreme Survivor difficulty setting for the base campaign.
Lara receives a letter from her Uncle, telling her that her claim to Croft Manor has been contested, and her claim as heir to the house cannot be verified. Lara returns to her childhood home to search for her father's missing will.
