Robotron X is a 1996 twin-stick shooter developed by Player 1, released for PC and PlayStation as a 3D reimagining of the classic arcade series. Players control the genetically enhanced hero Ugene, whose mission is to protect the last surviving human family from relentless waves of mechanical enemies known as Robotrons. The game spans 100 levels, with Ugene accumulating power-ups and new abilities as he advances through increasingly demanding enemy encounters. Familiar Robotron types return alongside new enemy variants that introduce fresh combat tactics and challenges. Survival and score maximization are the central objectives throughout, with the human family's safety serving as a constant secondary concern alongside defeating enemies. The shift to 3D distinguishes it from its arcade predecessors while retaining the wave-based structure and high-score focus that defined the original formula.
