RTX Red Rock is a third-person action-adventure game developed by LucasArts and released in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. Players control Major Eugene Wheeler, a specialist in radical tactics dispatched to a Martian base after contact with it is lost. Upon arrival, Wheeler finds the facility occupied by alien forces who intend to use it as a staging point for an assault on Earth. Gameplay divides its ten levels between combat using a variety of weapons and puzzle-solving segments, with some stages incorporating vehicle driving and robot control. Wheeler's loadout includes a robotic arm fitted with interchangeable attachments and a bionic eye capable of switching between four distinct vision modes. The combination of melee and ranged combat places the game within the hack-and-slash and beat-'em-up genres, though its structure and environmental problem-solving give it a broader adventure feel.
