Sadame is a hack-and-slash RPG developed by mebius and released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. Set against a backdrop of Japanese history, the game casts players in the role of one of four character classes — Samurai, Ninja, Monk, or Rogue — each with distinct combat styles drawing on swordsmanship, ninjutsu, pole weapons, archery, and supernatural abilities. The central conflict involves repelling a Yokai invasion that has overtaken the nation. Across 23 stages organized into four chapters, each modeled on historical Japanese battles, players fight through waves of enemies and confront boss encounters. Defeating foes earns experience that can be used to level up characters, unlock combo attacks, and customize builds for increasingly difficult challenges. Unchosen character classes serve as Assist allies in single-player, and the game also supports StreetPass functionality, allowing those characters to assist other players. All stages are rendered in a hand-drawn 2D art style inspired by classical Japanese aesthetics.
