Sanctum 2 is a hybrid tower defense and first-person shooter developed by Coffee Stain Studios, released in 2013 for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A sequel rebuilt from the ground up using community feedback, it tasks players with defending oxygen-producing Cores on the planet LOEK III from waves of hostile alien creatures. Gameplay alternates between a construction phase — where players design maze-like corridors and place defensive towers and walls — and an active combat phase where players engage enemies directly in first-person. Four distinct character classes are available, each with different strengths, weapons, and weaknesses. A broad customization system lets players select their own loadout of towers, weapons, and perks, with optional Feats of Strength that increase difficulty. The campaign can be completed solo or in four-player co-op. Completing maps unlocks pages of an in-game visual novel that expands the lore of LOEK III.
