Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Capcom, released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Wii. Set during 16th-century Japan's warring states period, the game casts players as various military commanders, each with a distinct playstyle, with the overarching objective of conquering the era and rewriting its history. The central "Hero's Story" mode introduces a branching narrative structure in which player decisions shape the course of events — alliances shift, former allies turn hostile, and new story paths emerge depending on the choices made. Alongside the main cast, supporting generals can be deployed to assist in commanding armies on the battlefield. Combat incorporates a territorial element, tasking players with capturing camps and seizing control of entire battlefields, adding a layer of strategic maneuvering to the large-scale melee action.
