Pirate Queen's Quest is a downloadable expansion for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, developed by WayForward Technologies and released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and PC. Rather than following the half-genie Shantae, the expansion reframes the base game's events from the perspective of the recurring antagonist Risky Boots. Players take control of the self-styled Pirate Queen as she travels across Sequin Land gathering the components necessary to conquer the region and defeat Shantae. The adventure, platforming, and exploration mechanics of the original game are substantially reworked to reflect Risky Boots's distinct abilities and pirate-themed playstyle, offering a different approach to the same environments and an alternate narrative lens on the story established in the main campaign.
