SingStar is a music and karaoke game developed by SCE London Studio, released for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. Building on the franchise's roots from the PlayStation 2, this entry brings the core experience to Sony's newer hardware with expanded network features. Players use bundled microphones to sing along to a library of pop songs — approximately 30 tracks included at launch — while on-screen lyrics are displayed against the songs' music videos. The game supports both solo play and group participation, making it well suited to social settings. Scoring is tied to how accurately players match the vocals of each track. The PS3 version distinguishes itself from its predecessors primarily through its online connectivity, which extends the experience beyond the base disc content and reflects the networked capabilities of the platform.
