About

Sonic Mega Collection is a platform and puzzle compilation developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega in 2002, originally released on the Nintendo GameCube and later available on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The package brings together twelve to fourteen Sega Genesis titles depending on region, ten of which are entries in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, with the remaining games connected to the lineup through Sega's publishing history. All titles run through a Genesis emulator built by Sonic Team. Director Yojiro Ogawa stated the collection's primary goal was to make the original Sonic games accessible to a new generation of players. Beyond the playable titles, the compilation includes Sonic-themed video content and artwork, along with high-resolution scans of original instruction manuals and covers from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.
