Sorcerer King is a turn-based strategy RPG developed by Stardock and released in 2015 for PC. Rather than following the conventional 4X formula of competing against roughly equal rival factions, it places the player in a deeply asymmetrical conflict against a single dominant antagonist — a sorcerer who has already won the war. The world has been conquered, opposing armies have been shattered, and civilization has been reduced to a handful of scattered outposts too small to merit the enemy's attention. Starting from one of these insignificant remnants, the player must rebuild strength and resist the Sorcerer King's continued expansion before he consolidates his total control. The design deliberately abandons abstract victory-condition racing in favor of a survival-oriented struggle against an overwhelming force, blending strategy-layer management with role-playing elements across a world already defined by catastrophic defeat.
