Soul Sacrifice is an action role-playing game developed for PlayStation Vita and released in 2013. The story centers on a prisoner condemned to be sacrificed by Magusar, an immortal sorcerer who sustains himself by consuming human lives. On the eve of the protagonist's execution, a sentient book called Librom appears, containing accounts of past battles between sorcerers and monsters. By entering these recorded memories through events called Phantom Quests, the protagonist gradually acquires the strength necessary to confront Magusar directly. Combat is built around meaningful trade-offs, as choices made throughout the game carry lasting consequences. The narrative branches into multiple endings: the primary split depends on whether the player saves or sacrifices Magusar following his defeat, while a third outcome becomes available if Magusar is defeated before the player has completed all of Librom's main stories.
