Based on the classic MAD Magazine characters, Spy vs Spy is a 1984 strategy-arcade game developed by First Star Software, released across numerous platforms including the Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, and others. Two rival spies — one black, one white — race through an embassy, ransacking desks, filing cabinets, and furniture to collect four key items: money, a passport, secret plans, and an airport door key. The first to gather everything into a briefcase and reach the exit wins. Competing players can set booby traps throughout the embassy's rooms — concealing a bomb inside a dresser drawer, for example — to delay the opponent. Most traps can be neutralized using items found elsewhere in the building, such as a water bucket used to defuse an explosive. The game supports split-screen two-player competition and a single-player mode against an AI-controlled opponent.
