Starhawk is a third-person shooter with real-time strategy elements developed by LightBox Interactive and released on PlayStation 3 in 2012. Set in a lawless stretch of outer space called the Frontier, the game follows Emmett Graves, a hired gunslinger partially mutated by exposure to a coveted resource known as Rift Energy. Ostracized from society because of this mutation, Graves is pulled back to his home settlement to confront a dangerous outlaw commanding a band of Outcast warriors — humans whose full exposure to Rift Energy has left them violent and deranged. The central mechanic blends gunfighting with on-the-fly base construction: players can call down structures from an orbiting drop ship in real time, shaping both offensive and defensive positions while combat unfolds around them. This system carries through both the single-player campaign and large-scale multiplayer firefights.
