Based on the 1997 film of the same name, Starship Troopers is a third-person shooter developed by Strangelite Limited and released for PC in 2005. Players fight through 12 single-player levels spanning a variety of environments — open battlefields, underground bug nests, abandoned mines, secret laboratories, and remote outposts — against up to 300 simultaneously active enemies drawn from 19 distinct bug types, each governed by individual AI. The arsenal includes nine weapons with dual-function attacks, ranging from the film-familiar Morita rifle and shotgun to plasma rifles and nuke launchers. Mission design alternates between large-scale real-time combat engagements and smaller solo infiltration assignments. Beyond the single-player campaign, the game supports LAN and online multiplayer with deathmatch and cooperative modes available.
