Statik is a first-person puzzle game developed by Tarsier Studios, released in 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR support. Players take on the role of a subject confined to a laboratory setting, where they must work through a series of progressively challenging puzzles to uncover what is happening and ultimately escape. The core mechanic centers on the DualShock 4 controller, which in the VR environment represents a contraption locked around the player's hands, with each button, trigger, and stick mapped to different functions on the device. Solving each puzzle requires experimenting with these inputs methodically, observing how the contraption responds, and drawing logical conclusions. The game's confined perspective and hands-on interaction model are designed to take full advantage of the VR medium, making spatial awareness and careful observation central to progress throughout its escalating series of experiments.
Statik is a VR puzzle-mystery, where you join Dr Ingen and his delightful assistant Edith on a journey to unravel the complexities of the human mind. Awaking to each new day with a unique, hand-mounted puzzle device to solve, you must use your brain, eyes and ears to solve each mystery. But, this being VR, it’s hard to know which of these can be trusted…
